What is apprenticeship?
Registered apprenticeships combine job-related classroom instruction with on-the-job learning. Apprentices start working, learning and earning on the first day of the program. They receive incremental wage increases as they gain proficiency. Upon completion of the training, apprentices receive industry-issued, nationally recognized credential that certifies occupational proficiency.
How long does it take?
Apprenticeships range in length from one to six years.
What kind of companies hire apprentices?
Companies of all sizes in the following industries use apprenticeship to develop their workforce: utilities, transportation, manufacturing, health care, construction, hospitality, and Information technology.
